11:33 pm - Alphistian
Alphistian is a constructed language, the official language of Alphistia - a “micronation” project. Both were created by Tony Skaggs (yours truly). Alphistian and Alphistia go back to 1967 when I was nine year old boy. It is an Indo-European type conlang, specifically influenced by germanic languages, although it has a core vocabulary of several dozen words dating back to 1967 that were complete inventions.

A very basic grammar of Alphistian is on the web at http://www.alphistia.com/lingua1.html. There are links there to the Alphistian-English and English-Alphistian dictionary, which has about 3000 basic words so far and is growing. A study course for Alphistian is being revised and should be available quite soon.

Part of this conlang project is to develop the mythology and national tale for Alphistia (like the Kalevala of Finland). And partly it to provide a language for a project developing an alternative society based on humanist and progressive principles. That would be Alphistia, and would have its own language to foster a unique cultural identity (such as Hebrew in Israel, or Icelandic).

I hope to go from lurker on this extremely interesting group to participant and welcome any new conlang friends. My livejournal is http://www.livejournal.com/users/alphistia.

vanderse hoiven (friendly greetings)
